Materials List

To get started you will need the supplies below. I will be using Acrylic paints in this course because they dry fast and will give us lots of options for paint application. Acrylics are non-toxic, water soluble and safe to use.

When it comes to supplies I always buy any brand on sale to get the best prices.

Canvas or Journal - I will be working on a canvas but anything will work, you can paint on anything you like - art journal, cardboard, what ever moves you! I am using a Blick brand 12" x12" Premier stretched canvas, traditional profile.

Optional supplies used in the videos - you can always buy them if you like the results you see in the demos.

  • Scissors and copy paper - to make templates, If you make the templates out of paper and you do not have a sponge just use paper towel or a large dry brush to dab into the paint it will work.
  • Cardboard - from an old package or insert you have around the house, small size or cut up a paper plate.
  • Spray Bottle - to spray water on your canvas or pallet.
  • Sponges and favorite templates - if you have them but not necessary.

I use supplies that I have on hand, you can see I mix all sizes and brands of supplies - what ever is on sale works perfectly - do not worry if your art store or Amazon does not have these brands just buy another! The brushes are a combination of house painting brushes you get from the DIY store and inexpensive round and flat brushes from art stores.

https://www.dickblick.com is the art supplies store where I buy my supplies here in the USA. Amazon carries all the art supplies you will need as well.
